Søren Sørensen will speak at the conference;

«Cross border smart mobility in the Nordics in one go»

Imagine one open multimodal crossborder travelplanner covering Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Imagine that you from a Finnish app can plan and pay in Euro for a multimodal journey with bus, ferry and train to Oslo, Norway and your local use of shared mobility options while staying in Frederikstad.The NEMU project, funded by Nordic Innovation, turn these imaginations into reality using mandated open mobility data and roaming principles.

How can public transport participate and deliver more use of local public transport?

Søren Sørensen is deeply passionate about the transition to more sustainable modes of transport. He exemplifies this commitment by relying entirely on access to mobility options whenever needed.

Since 2006, he has worked within the transport sector in Denmark and internationally. His area of expertise is smart mobility, including EU regulations on Multimodal Travel Information Services, Multimodal Digital Mobility Services, Enabling MaaS, digitization of public transport, seamless ticketing, and real-time information services.

He was responsible for the implementation of Rejsekort at DSB and Midttrafik, gaining deep insight into how to implement a multimodal ticketing system that balances the interests of multiple public transport agencies.

Following this, he supported FAIRTIQ in marketing an app-based check-in/check-out ticketing solution in the Nordic region (2018–2020). He also assisted the Danish Transport Authority in establishing the foundation for open mobility data in the National Access Point.

Søren developed a strategy and design for a digitized regional transport administration based on open mobility standards in the Banská Bystrica region of Slovakia.

He contributed to the NOMAD project, including the formulation of a collaborative framework between Nordic MaaS agencies to enable seamless travel across Nordic countries—akin to phone roaming.

As a follow-up, he played a key role in securing a successful bid for a project aimed at delivering multimodal cross-border journey planning, booking, and payment in one integrated solution for sustainable ground and sea transport. A major component of the project is to demonstrate the value of transmodel mobility standards as regulated by the EU. The three-year project, NEMU, is funded by Nordic Innovation, with Søren serving as project manager.
